Anytime there is not enough money in your checking account to cover payment of a check, an automatic transfer from your savings to your checking account can be arranged. If the funds are available in your savings account, we will transfer only the amount necessary to cover the check. For each overdraft, a $5.00 fee will be assessed to your account. The circumstances under which the credit union will not use Overdraft Protection is if there is not enough money available in the savings account to pay the item or if the credit union elects to return the item due to holds/restrictions on account. This is a service we offer to avoid the embarrassment of having your check returned unpaid! Overdraft Protection is an option, and is available if requested.
Overdraft Privilege is a discretionary, non-contractual service provided to our members. It is designed to help guard against inadvertent overdrafts being returned by the credit union. Each approved member will be given a privilege limit set by the credit union. With ODP, should you overdraw your account inadvertently, we may elect to cover your overdrafts up to your limit set by the credit union. You will have ten days to bring your account at the credit union back to a positive balance. There is no monthly charge, however, you will be charged the normal overdraft fee of $28.00 for each paid item presented against insufficient funds up to your limit. The fee charged for covering the overdraft along with the amount of the overdraft will be subtracted from your Overdraft Privilege limit. Whether the item is paid or returned, you will be assessed the regular $28 NSF fee. This fee not only applies to checks, but also applies to ATM withdrawals, debit card transactions, preauthorized automatic debits, telephone-initiated transfers, online banking transactions, or any other electronic transaction. Transactions may not be processed in the order in which they occurred, and the order in which transactions are received and processed by the credit union can affect the total amount of overdraft fees incurred. There is not a limit to how many overdraft fees you can incur in one given day. If you choose to opt out of this service please send a written request to the credit union, attention ODP Coordinator.
For one-time EFT transactions you must consent to the Credit Union’s overdraft protection plan in order for the transaction amount to be covered. Without your consent, the Credit Union may not authorize and pay an overdraft resulting from these type of transactions. You can choose to opt in or out at any time.
